Rant, Rave and Review Friday | MAC Cosmetics, Sigma Brushes, New York Color (NYC) on 11 November, 2011
Hey everyone! Today's Friday and that means it's Rant, Rave and Review FridayRant, Rave and Review Fridays are the one day of the week where I'm more opinionated than I normally am. Every Friday, I'll make a post that talks about the things that don't sit well, what made extremely excited, and reviews of products that I have used or currently use.

So today's Rant, Rave, and Review Friday will consist of MAC CosmeticsSigma Brushes, and New York Color (NYC).

LGI! Let's get it, let's go!

Rants;

So I was watching some tutorials and reviews on ye ol TubeYou and it seems like everyone uses Sigma Brushes and for good reason, have you seen those beauts? Aah, they are quite something. So, I decided that I would go look them up again and see if I can find the price of these things. Oh my fucking Zeus Almighty. They are sooooo expensive and when you're a poor, soon-to-be college kid, you can't be spending $109 on 5 damn brushes. Like shiiiit, can I get like 20 brushes in that? I was so not amused and trust me, I searched everywhere I could before getting tired....$109 is the cheapest I could find.

It was a bit saddening because I do want to test these brushes out one day and do my own review on them, but I just don't have the money for that. I suppose that's why it lead me into a deep mental rant about how much I really wanted the brushes, but couldn't have them.

Oh Sigma Brushes, why are you so expensive? ;~; One day...one day...

Raves;

I finally got off my butt and explored the MAC Cosmetics website and good Lord, that website is beautiful. The web designer in me greatly appreciated the beauty of the websites overall sleekness. So, me being me and whatnot, I signed up for the site and all that jazz. I should be ordering from them sometime soon....or at least trying to visit someplace that where I can buy MAC products.

Another thing that has me raving like no other, these New York Color In A New York Color Minute quick drying nail polishes. They are so glossy and amazing when I finish applying them (full review of this below) and man, do I love these beauties. I'm definitely going to have to go out and buy some more of them. Ooooh, like that pretty orange one I saw. Yay!

Review;

Today, I'll be reviewing the NYC products I purchased last Friday which are:   New York Color's In A New York Color Minute Quick Drying Nail Polish,  New York Color's Skin Matching Foundation, and  New York Color's Kiss Gloss.

In A New York Color Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish

» Pros; Quick drying, glossy, easy application, vibrant colour, not too strong of a smell, doesn't chip easily.
» Cons; More than one layer needed, somewhat of a difficult removal.
» Overall Rating; ★★★★☆
» Summary; Out of all the products in this batch, I adore these polishes the most. These polishes dry quickly nor do they chip easily. Their colours are vibrant and extremely beautiful. They also manage to give off a nice glossy shine without the usage of a top, clear coat. The smell wasn't too strong (thank heavens) and application was a breeze. I do wish that the first layer of polish had enough vibrancy to standalone, but unfortunately it does not. Removal of the polish can be a bit much because once the polish is on, the polish is on and it'll take a few rubs with remover to get the colour out completely. The reason behind the rating of 4 stars is simply because it's overall glossiness and vibrancy. Vibrant and glossy polishes are big love of mine and since this definitely doesn't fall short in either category, I bumped the rating up a star. Good job NYC, nice to see you didn't fail me here.

Skin Matching Foundation

» Pros; It was cheap.
» Cons; Way too liquefied, not an easy application, uncomfortable, horrible coverage, no difference, no evening the skin, messy overall.
» Overall Rating; ★☆☆☆☆
» Summary; This was so bad, that it hurts to do a review on it. Normally, I'm not this unimpressed with anything and I really do mean anything, but this seriously....takes the cake. The only good thing about this was that it was cheap. I'm well aware of the fact that liquid foundation is well....liquid, but this was so liquefied that if you tried to apply with a brush, there's a huge possibility that it would seep through the brush. Applying this was messy, uncomfortable and extremely annoying overall and that is a huge no-no for me. I enjoy and feel most comfortable when putting on makeup, if I'm applying something that I don't enjoy or feel uncomfortable with, I immediately just have a strong dislike for it. There is really nothing good to say about this foundation, but hey, it may work for some people. It just didn't work for me. Oh, and I would never recommend this to anyone. Obviously it was my least favourite of the bunch.

Kiss Gloss

» Pros; Extremely glossy, easy application, nice when on the right base, long lasting.
» Cons; Not really that great of a smell, glitter in it extremely uncomfortable, thicker than expected.
» Overall Rating; ★★☆☆☆
» Summary; If you've seen my vlog in which I originally state how I feel about this gloss, you'd know that I didn't have a very nice outlook on this gloss. Almost immediately, I disliked it. It wasn't until maybe the third usage or so and using a bit of Carmex on my lips before applying this gloss did I actually start to really enjoy it a bit. Although the initial thickness, smell really irks me (I still think it smells like pen ink) and the glitter made it uncomfortable, it is long lasting and it a really pretty nude pink that really just gets me excited. Not only is the colour itself gorgeous, but it felt amazing when applied atop the Carmex and was beautifully glossy. I'm not gonna lie, I felt like a diva wearing it. The reason it's rated 2 stars instead of 3 is because of the uncomfortable glitter. Again, if I'm uncomfortable wearing, it's not something I'll favour.

Before, I go. Hyunnie tagged me and since I don't want to post another blog tonight, I'll do it right in this one. So here we go.

7 Blahblahblah's About Meh:

1. I have a tendency to have a very realistically optimistic view on life. Although I like an extreme pessimist at times, I'm actually more of a realistic optimist than anything else. I can be extremely positive and whatnot for people, but I also try to remain realistic as well. My mind is weird like that.
2. Unlike Hyun, I lost a piece of the bone in my leg. I shit you not. I have a 6 inch scar and 6 inches of metal in my leg to prove it. Surgery was not fun. Neither was being doped up on morphine.
3. I hate Pepsi. Give me that shit and I will rage. Seriously. Don't ever give me Pepsi.
4. I've heard from people that I'm a jack of all trades. I disagree, but meh.
5. I study a lot of different things. There's never a moment where I'm not interested in something random and I have to look up on it. Everything from Psychology to Astrology to Foreign Language to Web Design.
6. I hardly show emotions. My facial expression hardly ever changes and sometimes people think I'm being judgmental. I can assure you that I'm not. I honestly don't give enough care to judge 24/7.
7. I spoil people a lot. If you're important to me, I'll more than likely end up spoiling you. I suggest you get accustomed to that idea.
